History of the BMW logo
The roundel dates from 1917, when Rapp Motorenwerke became BMW: a black ring with the name around blue and white quarters, the colours of Bavaria. The idea that it shows a spinning propeller came from a 1929 advert, not the original design. In 2020 BMW made the ring transparent for its digital brand.

Brand logos come from Simple Icons. They are shown for reference and identification: each logo is a trademark of its owner, and using it does not mean the owner endorses you. Before using a logo in your own work, read the brand’s guidelines; where Simple Icons lists a licence for a logo, it is shown on that logo’s page. Brand owners can ask for a change or removal through Simple Icons.
